On this blog, I go by the name of “Leathersmith,” and I am the maker of The Wicked Queen’s original Wicked Strap. As Jessica, The Wicked Queen herself, has said in more than one post on here, I contacted her and Joey via their website and asked if they would like for me to make them a custom leather strap. That’s the first and only time I have ever offered to do anything like that, but I so appreciated how their website and blog provided such a wealth of ACCURATE and REALISTIC information on the Female Led Domestic Discipline lifestyle. I wanted to give them a gift to show just how much I appreciated it.

The Wicked Queen shared with me her vision for the perfect domestic discipline strap. As she has said in her posts, she wanted something with roughly the same general dimensions, weight, and impact as her antique razor strop. However, she needed it to have a comfortable handle.
The antique razor strop inspiration was not lost on me. Quality razor strops produced during the early part of the last century were made of exceptionally thick leather and were capable of delivering quite a memorable whipping. That gave me an idea of just how “Wicked” of a strap she wanted this to be.

Leather that thick today is EXCEEDINGLY RARE and always expensive. The reason being: leather is a byproduct of the beef industry, and most cattle raised for beef don’t live long enough to produce leather that thick and tough. Most leather suppliers don’t even carry leather over 14oz weight because there are few practical uses for it outside of harness making.
However, those of us who really need it for making heavy harness reins and such have to pay dearly for an entire side of 16 – 21oz oak bark tanned harness leather (in leather terminology, a “side” means a whole side of the cow – they don’t sell this in small quantities), and it is this particular extra-heavy harness leather that I selected for making what would soon become known as “The Wicked Strap.”
I stropped my round knife on an antique US Cavalry-issued OVB Brand razor strop (talk about irony) and got to work. I cut a long strip 2.5” wide of that extra-heavy grade harness leather and used my smallest edge beveler to just BARELY take the sharp edges off. Then I cut two 24” strips and glued them together at the end where the handle would be.
Some old razor strops actually did have a handle end, but it was made of thinner, flimsy leather and sewn onto the heavy strap. It’s ideal for holding while you strop a razor, but practically useless for swinging as a whuppin’ strap. I made a cardboard template of a handle, traced it onto the handle end with an awl, and cut out the shape. I was aiming for a handle similar to one I had seen on a particular model of old Illinois brand razor strops. Ultimately, it feels good in the hand, but make no mistake about it – the handle is the ONLY comfortable end on this strap!
Next, I cut my stitching grooves so the stitches would sit UNDER the surface of the leather rather than on top of it. This lessens the likelihood of damage due to abrasion. Once that was done, I laid out my stitch spacing, punched my holes, and saddle-stitched the handle assembly by hand using heavy nylon saddler’s thread. While machine stitching is definitely more convenient, saddle stitching by hand creates a MUCH more secure bond, and I wanted this to be an extremely durable, heirloom-quality strap.

I sanded, dyed, slicked, and hand-burnished the edges. When I reached the end of the straps, I noticed the square end had some SHARP corners. I EVER SO GENTLY softened them to help prevent wounds that might require sutures. I punched a hole so The Wicked Queen could add an optional wrist lanyard or hang it from a nail. I applied a very light coat of pure neatsfoot oil to each side and let it soak in. I didn’t condition it too thoroughly because I knew where it was going – and it would be well conditioned before its debut performance. The Wicked Queen assured me of that.
Once this beastly strap was finished, I took a short video of myself holding it up and sent it to Jessica. She was delighted, and on the first day of February 2021, “The Wicked Strap” was born.

I was extremely HONORED to take Jessica’s vision for the perfect domestic discipline strap and turn it into a tangible reality in extra-heavy harness leather. I shipped it off to her, and upon arrival, it became her favorite strap! Joey must have been pleased as well because he wasted no time sending my own precious Queen her very own, brand-new Wicked Switch. Thanks, buddy! Lesson learned – next time I feel “generous,” I might just send y’all a Red Lobster gift card. 😅

You might have guessed that before I shipped “The Wicked Strap,” my dumb ass made the tragic mistake of showing it to my lovely better half – and she just had to have one! I guess I had that one coming too. What do they say – “no good deed goes unpunished”? When it comes to “Wicked Straps” and “Wicked Switches,” it truly IS better to give than to receive. Don’t ask me how I know.
Before the day was through, I found myself back at the shop repeating the process, only this time much slower – because I knew this one would eventually be used on MY OWN backside. Once I finished it, I gave it to her, and I must admit, seeing how happy she was made me swell with pride. Unfortunately, that pride didn’t last long.
In no time, I made a boo-boo that warranted something more severe than just a few licks with her favorite paddle. I soon found myself face-down over the pillows, bare bottom up – just the way she likes it. I knew it was going to be bad, so I braced for impact – but NOTHING could have prepared me for the SHOCK of that first lick.
It was like no leather strap I have ever felt before. I’ve experienced razor strops, off-billet straps, and other custom pieces from well-known makers, but NOTHING compares to THIS STRAP. This thing brings the PAIN. It has both sting and thud – and a LOT of both. Each lick felt like it was reaching down into my soul and rearranging my DNA.
Less than ten licks had me BAWLING in heaving sobs – but she still gave me all ten. My bottom hurt for DAYS, and even my shorts brushing against my skin was a constant reminder.
I’ve seen guys in Jessica’s Facebook group say they could “take a couple hundred with it.” Those guys all have one thing in common: they’ve never been whipped with a “Wicked Strap.” I’m not putting anyone down – they just don’t know what they don’t know. Take ten licks and get back to me. If you’re not singing a different tune, congratulations – you’ve got a cast-iron ass. I personally wouldn’t sign up for “a couple hundred” even on a five-year installment plan.
If you’ll remember, I mentioned the leather is impregnated with oils and waxes. That wax is important—it gives the leather a slightly “grippy” feel, more like rubber when it lands.
When Jessica says “The Wicked Strap” is a hybrid between a razor strop and a prison strap, she’s exactly right. It LOOKS like a razor strop – you could hang it on the wall and pass it off as one. But it FEELS like a prison strap:
built for punishing GROWN MEN. Up until the mid-1900s, many Southern prisons used heavy leather straps like this – and they were effective even on hardened convicts. Simply put, this isn’t made for wimps.
Until recently, there were only TWO Wicked Straps in existence – hers and mine. But Jessica and Joey later asked me to make exact replicas for their website, and I was just as honored to do that as I was to create the original. As of now, there are only seven in existence.
If you have one of the first five replicas, it came from the same side of leather as the original. Originally, I thought I used white thread on the original, so I made ours that way – but I later changed it back to black. So if you’ve got one with white thread, you’ve got a unicorn.
All future straps will be made from the same type of leather, using the original hand-drawn template. Since this leather often includes brands, scars, and “range marks,” each strap will have its own unique fingerprint.
Take heed to Jessica’s warning: this strap is NOT for everyone. If you’re a spankee buying this for your spanker, be prepared for the worst buyer’s remorse of your life. If these were the only implements left in the world, I’d be begging to renegotiate my relationship contract—and that’s no lie.
Happy Strappin’
Leathersmith
What I love about this article is how these husbands are being so thoughtful for each other’s wives. One made a formidable strap for her to keep her man in line. The other returning the favor of making a very effective switch for the other’s wife. Essentially willingly making implements to their own detriment.
I have seen the Spanking Tube video of the wicked queen swinging a belt, and fantasize being on the receiving end of ten from her with the strap explained here by Leatherman. If I made it to ten, I know I would not want to go further.
That is a very astute observation! Kind of funny if you think about it. And for the record, they both laugh about that as well. Well, they don’t laugh, WHEN they are getting it with either, but sometime afterwards. 😉 And yes, that strap is quite the beast – for what it’s worth, it is also good for self-spanking and will mark you up quiet well.
Would you ever be brave enough to make this? https://www.smilesandspanks.com/home/spanking-bench-guide
